Stores lack professional pharmacists

FAISALABAD: Majority of the medical stores across the country lack professional pharmacists requiring the immediate attention of the
departments concerned.

The Government College University Faisalabad vice-chancellor Dr Zakir
Hussain said this while he was addressing a rally organized in
connection with the World Pharmacist Day.

The rally arranged by the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences started
from the pharmacy department and reached outside the VC office after
taking round of the university.

The participants were carrying banners and placards inscribed with slogans in favour of health and role of pharmacists.

Dr Hussain said selling of drugs at medical stores without the qualified pharmacists was a dangerous trend and the government should focus on the issue. He said pharmacy was the guarantee of the health, however, medical stores were not hiring the services of the professional pharmacists.

He urged the government to ensure presence of professional pharmacists
at each store of the country to ensure health of every citizen.

The VC asked the students of pharmacy section to focus on their studies as they human lives depend on them.
